Guidance for barbers and cosmetologists
Governor Doug Ducey issued an Executive Order allowing cosmetologists and barber shops to resume appointment-based services May 8, 2020 as the next steps to gradually reenergize the economy. Barbers and cosmetologists must establish and implement safety protocols and best practices follow protocols as directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the United States Department of Labor Division of Occupational Safety (OSHA) and the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).
Occupancy percentage limitations expire. Barbers and cosmetologists must continue to implement physical distancing and mask protocols.
Barbers and cosmetologists can resume operations with appointment-based services
Arizona guidance for barbers and cosmetologists includes requiring employees to wear gloves during salon treatments that require touching someone’s face, wearing masks for treatments or appointments, sanitizing pens and hard surfaces, and consider not charging late or cancellation fees if someone cannot make their appointment due to illness.
